This I SEE International Multiplier Event is a major contribution to the Annual Conference of Strategic Partner, The Association For Science Education, which is hosted this year by the University of Birmingham (https://www.ase.org.uk/annual-conference)
Join I SEE team members from all our Strategic Partner organizations for a series of workshops on Wednesday 9 January 2019 which introduces our project, its aims and objectives, and the teaching resources; and aim to equip teachers to effectively employ our strategies and resources with their students.
Futurizing Science Education
In this workshop, we will present the I SEE project which aims to design innovative approaches and teaching modules to foster students’ capacities to imagine the future and aspire to STEM careers. An overview of its characterizing activities will set the stage for discussions about the sense of “futurizing” science education.
Fostering students’ future imagination
about quantum computing
ICT and quantum computers will play an important role in students’ futures and in solving the “wicked problems”. We present the I SEE module developed in Finland, fostering students’ understanding and imagination about the futures of ICT. Its implementation in schools will be discussed from researchers’ and teachers’ viewpoints.
Fostering Students’ Future Imagination
about Climate Change & Carbon Sequestration
Do you know how much carbon dioxide it is possible to sequester through mineralization? Or how much is sequestered through reforestation? In this session you will learn how to teach these climate change solutions and develop students’ action competence and positive future vision.
Fostering Students’ Future Imagination
about Artificial Intelligence
In this workshop we present the module on Artificial Intelligence, designed within the I SEE project. After an overview of the project, we lead delegates to experience activities that make Artificial Intelligence a powerful context to foster students’ capacities to imagine the future and aspire to STEM careers.
